David R. Johnson is a Senior Counsel with Lanak & Hanna, P.C. For over twenty years, he has represented general contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers, and surety companies in disputes involving private and public projects. In addition, he represents surety companies in the investigation, evaluation, and litigation of both contract and statutory bond claims and indemnity disputes. He also represents real estate owners and businesses in entrepreneurial transactions.
David is admitted to practice law in all state and federal courts in California and Nevada and the Court of Federal Claims, and is a member of the Clark County, Nevada Bar Association. He has argued before the Nevada Supreme Court several times, and a reported case of his is Hartford Fire Ins. Co. v. Trustees of the Construction Industry, et al., 125 Nev. 149, 208 P.3d 884 (2009).
David has lectured about and authored many articles on both California and Nevada construction law. He is also the author of the State-By-State Guide to Architect, Engineer, and Contractor Licensing and updates (Nevada chapter) and The Surety Underwriter’s Desk Book (Nevada chapter).
David received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, San Diego and his Juris Doctor Degree, cum laude, from the University of San Diego, where he was the Research Editor on the law school’s law review.
