Congratulations to Attorney Lauren Stec for obtaining a complete victory at arbitration for a steel subcontractor client. The case involved a general contractor’s failure to pay Lanak & Hanna’s steel subcontractor client on a project in Banning, CA. The general contractor, in response to the steel subcontractor’s claim, filed a counter-claim for more than double the amount the steel subcontractor was claiming. The general contractor’s counter-claim alleged the steel subcontractor failed to complete its work, delayed the project months, and was liable to the general contractor for liquidated damages. After three days of arbitration, Ms. Stec, in representing the steel subcontractor, was able to not only defeat every single claim brought by the general contractor but also obtained a six-figure award in favor of her steel subcontractor client. Following the Arbitrator’s issuance of an interim award, Mr. Stec also prevailed on a request for her steel subcontractor to be awarded its attorney fees, interest, and costs of arbitration.
