Principal Attorney Natasha Buchanan successfully defended her contractor client in a case before the Labor Commissioner’s office where a former employee made claims that the contractor wrongfully terminated the employee for seeking leave. The hearing officer found that the employer had planned on terminating the employee prior to the request for leave based on internal communications. The hearing officer concluded and ordered that the employee take nothing on their claim. This is a great reminder to always “paper the file” because you never know when a document will secure you a complete defense victory.
