Principal Attorney Natasha Buchanan Overturns Two Bid Protests on Public Works Projects

By July 25, 2024No Comments

Principal Attorney Natasha Buchanan successfully responded to two bid protests on two separate public works projects, which resulted in the awarded contract to Lanak & Hanna’s general contractor clients.

Lanak & Hanna’s general contractor client was the lowest bidder on the project. The second bidder protested that bid for failure to submit bids in compliance with the Notice Inviting Bids and that it was non-responsive and non-responsible. The public entity reviewed the response to the bid prepared by Ms. Buchanan and determined that the second bidder’s bid protest had no merit. This victory resulted in the City’s award of the $2.3 Million project to Lanak & Hanna’s general contractor client.

Another of Lanak & Hanna’s general contractor client was the lowest bidder on the project. The County attempted to materially change the general contractor’s bid for an inconsequential error resulting from a mathematical calculation. The public entity reviewed the response prepared by Ms. Buchanan, waived the inconsequential error and awarded the project to Lanak & Hanna’s general contractor client.
